Monday
In our second year of high school we spent a week in Spain, Sarinena. It lasted from the 4th until the 10th of march. We can all agree, that our favourite day was the one spent in Barcelona. After breakfast, we split into groups and each group explored the city through different routes. Different ways lead us to the same location. We used a map on our phone, with the help of Spanish students. On our way we visited different shops and cultural monuments. For example different churches, squares and our favourite street La Rambla. During our tour we got the chance to talk to our hosts and get to know each other. We didn’t really get along, because of the age difference and most of the time they were quiet and restrained. Besides their English wasn’t as fluent as we would have expected. It was very difficult because of that, especially at the beginning and we think that they should have put more effort into interacting with us. But on the other hand, we got along much better with students from different countries because they were more mature and had similar opinions, lifestyle, habits. Even though we didn’t get on that well with our hosts we still enjoyed participating and learned a lot about their culture. All in all we would recommend the project regardless of our mediocre experience.
