Szkoła Podstawowa nr 5 im. dra Aleksandra Majkowskiego is a part of a complex of schools called Zespół Szkół Ogólnokształcących nr 2 w Kartuzach. Within the complex we have an elementary school, medium school and high school. Our pupils and students are aged 6-19. There are about 1000 students and 90 teachers.
Kartuzy is a town located 30km from Gdańsk and therefore from the Baltic Sea. The population is about 15 000 inhabitants. Kartuzy is the capital of a region called Kaszuby.
Our school specializes in sport, especially swimming, basketball and handball. The students in the high school are trained to be future police officers. Two years ago we started bilingual classes. Here is our website Gimbi
Why Building Bridges?
Two years ago we created bilingual courses in our school. Students in those classes have an intensive course in English. Moreover, they have biology and physics party in English. The main aim of the Building Project for us is to enable the students to have real life experience of using English outside the classroom. We all want to see the world, to make friends, to learn from each other, improve our school, open to Europe and improve our English skills.
